I designed and built (with great help) most of the early Phoenix sculptures for the Phoenixville Firebird Festival. The need to think through the aesthetic, the strength, how it would burn and fall (safely) was a really enjoyable process. The first sculpture was about 14 feet tall and the tallest was 30 feet tall. We started with about 900 attendees and I believe last year's attendance was about 12,000.
